On April 16th, my body felt so great. The puffness on body was slowly going down and muscle spasm lessen.
I went to the main lab and had my blood drawn on April 19 in the morning. At night I received the results.
Components Standard Range My value
T4 0.6 - 1.6 ng/dL 1.1
T3 2.3 - 4.2 pg/mL 8.6
TSH 0.40 - 4.0 mIU/L <0.01
The Doctor informed me that I was getting hyperthyroid without Methimazole. I was advised to resume 10mg per day 1-2 days prior my April 30 visit.
When I woke up my pulse is at 74.
I saw my Dr today. She said I am the only person she knows who is sensitive to methimazole.
She asked me what are the symptoms do I feel when I'm hyper or hypo.
After 2 months of this up and down cycle I took it upon myself to know clues as to when something changes in my body. I don't want to puff
She then wanted me to:
Please:
1. Start methimazole 5mg a day today.
2. If you feel your heart rate is slower or any other signs of low thyroid, then take 1/2 pill of 5mg (2.5mg) that day. If you really feel you are hypothyroid, skip methimazole one day. Please try not to skip 2 days in a row.
3. If you have muscle spasm, faster heart rate, or any other sings of high thyroid, then take 5mg of methimazole.
4. If you feel really hyperthyroid, take 10mg a day.
5. Repeat another labs in 1 month. If not stable, then we will repeat the lab at that time. Weekly standing FT4 and FT3 lab orders are already in the system for you.
6. If you have sore throat, fever, infection, or skin rash or itchiness, stop methimazole and call MD immediately.
7. Follow up appointment for 2 months.
8. Do thyroid blood tests about 2-3 days before your visit.
~Thank you~
I took 5mg that day
Through out the day the highest pulse I had was at 96 after doing errands and carrying my son every store we go to.
My pulse prior bedtime is at 76.
